Questions
What kinds of services is this for?
Work you do for someone: lessons, tutoring, cleaning, lawn care, photo sessions, coaching, repairs. Once, a set number of times, or ongoing.
Does my customer need a Much Obliged account?
No. They open your link, see the service, confirm it and pay. Nothing to sign up for.
Can I take a deposit?
Yes. For a single service: a fixed deposit when they book, and the rest when the work's done or by a date. For a series: a deposit when they accept, and the rest after the last session.
Can someone book before anything is due?
Yes. For a single service, choose “Nothing now”: they confirm the booking and nothing is charged. They pay on the same link when it's due.
How does a series work?
Set the number of sessions (2 to 24), the price per session and how often: every week, every two weeks or every month, or dates you set as you go. Your customer accepts once, and one link covers every session.
Can I get paid as each session happens?
Yes. With “Pay as you go”, your customer pays one session at a time on the same link. Nothing is ever charged automatically.
Can I set up ongoing work?
Yes. Set a monthly price and how often the work happens. Your customer agrees once and is charged monthly by card until either of you stops it.
Is ongoing work the same as a series?
No. A series has a set number of sessions and an end. Ongoing work carries on, billed monthly, until it's stopped.
Can people choose a service from my website?
Yes, with Offers: up to five offers on one page, on its own link or on your website. People pay a set price on the spot, or send you a short message first. Nothing is charged for a message.
When you've agreed a visit, turn the message into a one-time service. More about Offers
Does Much Obliged book appointments or send reminders?
No. You and your customer decide the times.
Much Obliged keeps those details with the service, shows you what's next, and keeps the record. It isn't a booking calendar, and it doesn't send reminders.
Can my customer pay me directly?
For a single service, yes: choose “They pay me directly” and record it when it arrives. It shows as “Recorded by you”. A series and ongoing work are paid by card.
Where does the money go?
Card payments go through Stripe straight to your own connected Stripe account. Much Obliged never holds your money.
Does Much Obliged take a percentage?
No. Much Obliged platform fee: $0. Standard Stripe processing fees apply to card payments.
What does Much Obliged cost?
$8 a month. 0% platform fee.
Can I see finished work later?
Yes. Every service keeps its record: what was agreed, when it happened, what was paid and what was done.
