Acceptable Use Policy
Interim launch version 2026-10-21.1. Effective date: October 21, 2026. This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to every Creator, including a Creator acting as a Seller. It has two parts: rules that are locked, and categories that still need a founder, counsel or Stripe decision and are therefore treated conservatively until then.
Part 1 — Locked rules
These follow directly from Stripe's rules for connected accounts, from the product as built, and from the law.
1. What Much Obliged is for
Much Obliged is for a public page about your own work and, if you choose, for accepting support, Memberships and, where available, payments for your own goods, services and work. Use it for your own work and your own sales.
2. Prohibited everywhere
You may not use Much Obliged, your page, a Membership, a Payment Request or Quick Sale for:
- anything illegal where you or your customer are;
- fraud, scams, deception, impersonation, false or misleading descriptions, or fake endorsements;
- content or items that infringe copyright, trademark, publicity or other rights, including counterfeit or unlicensed goods;
- harassment, threats, doxxing, or abuse of any person;
- sexual services, pornography or other sexually explicit content, and anything exploiting minors;
- weapons and their accessories, explosives and hazardous materials;
- illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, cannabis and CBD products, prescription products, and unsafe or falsely marketed supplements;
- tobacco, nicotine and vaping products; alcohol;
- gambling, sweepstakes, contests, raffles or lotteries with a prize, and paid entries that promise a prize;
- financial products and services: lending, credit repair, debt relief, investment advice or products, cryptocurrency exchange or wallets, "get rich quick" schemes, pyramid or multi-level marketing;
- stored value, gift cards, prepaid cards, credits, wallets or anything redeemable for money;
- moving money between people: paying yourself, a friend, a family member or a business partner; collecting rent, repaying a debt, getting cash from a card, or any transfer where nothing is provided in return. Payments through Much Obliged must be for your work, your content, your Membership, or an item or service you actually provide, and a payment must be for what its page or Payment Request describes, not for something else;
- fundraising: collecting donations for a charity or nonprofit, for a political candidate, party or committee, for a ballot measure, or for a personal cause, medical need, emergency or legal defense; crowdfunding with goals or rewards; public campaigns to fund something that may be made later; and speculative or general public pre-orders of things that do not yet exist. A commission is different and is allowed: a specific piece of ordinary, lawful work (for example a painting, a sculpture or a piece of furniture) that you will make for one Buyer - either agreed with you first and sold to that one Buyer through a Payment Request, or bought by one Buyer at the set price and terms you publish on your Creative Work, as one piece of work made for them. It must still be something this policy allows;
- selling access to Discord, Discord accounts, Nitro or in-game currency, or using the Discord integration for anything but a Membership role;
- vehicles, boats, trailers or other titled property; live animals; shipping perishable food; anything that requires age verification at delivery; anything the carrier or the law forbids shipping to the destination;
- any consumer product that is under a safety recall (check cpsc.gov/recalls before you sell);
- anything on Stripe's Prohibited and Restricted Businesses list as it applies to your account, whether or not it appears above.
Ordinary, lawful food and drink is not prohibited: for example baked goods, coffee or produce you are allowed to sell at a market, a stand, a pop-up or for pickup or delivery. Getting and keeping any permit, license, food-safety, labelling or cottage-food approval it needs is your responsibility; Much Obliged does not check or verify any of it. Food and drink sellers are read by a person before selling tools are switched on. Alcohol, cannabis and the other items above stay prohibited.
3. Payment functionality
You may not: use another person's Stripe account or let another person use yours; create a Payment Request for a transaction that is not yours, for a sale that is not genuine, or to collect payment for something other than what it describes; describe a deposit as escrow, a hold or an authorization; mark a service complete before it is; record a handoff, shipment or delivery that did not happen; enter a handoff PIN on a Buyer's payment page yourself; record a Quick Sale payment you did not receive; split one sale across multiple Payment Requests or Quick Sale orders to avoid a price limit; or use Much Obliged to evade a restriction Stripe, Discord or Much Obliged has placed on you.
4. Platform and security
You may not attempt to access another Creator's records or another person's subscription; probe, scan or attack the service; automate account creation; scrape the service; bypass rate limits; or share the private links Much Obliged gives to Supporters, Members and Buyers other than with the person they are for.
5. Eligibility, sanctions and location
Creators and Sellers must be at least 18 and based in the United States (Terms of Service section 3). Much Obliged is not a charitable-donation or fundraising platform and is not offered to charities, nonprofits or political committees soliciting donations. You may not use Much Obliged if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you are a person Stripe or Much Obliged is prohibited from serving. Stripe applies its own sanctions screening to Connected Accounts.
6. Enforcement and review
Much Obliged may hold an account, unpublish content, withdraw unpaid Payment Requests, pause the creation of Payment Requests or Quick Sale orders, or terminate an account under the Terms of Service, and may report activity to Stripe and, where required, to authorities. Existing paid access and existing subscriptions are handled as the Terms describe. Much Obliged does not operate a formal appeals system; you may contact support@muchobliged.co to request a review, and Much Obliged reviews moderation matters case by case under these rules.
Part 2 — Categories awaiting a decision (treated conservatively)
The following are not permitted at this time, not because a decision has been made against them, but because no founder, counsel or Stripe decision has been made for them. (Age, United States location and the exclusion of charitable and political fundraising are founder decisions and appear in Part 1.) Each is recorded in the internal Legal Decisions Register.
| Category | Interim treatment | Register |

| Non-refundable deposits | Not offered; the product has no such setting | R-47 |
| Shipping destinations | Shipping to addresses in the United States only. International shipping is not offered | R-49 |
| Adult-oriented but non-explicit content (e.g., artistic nudity) | Not permitted until decided | R-24 |
